Vehicles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important political figure commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
