Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered disruption to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and implementing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the city endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor lost their life and several individuals were injured.

The strikes come after periods of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
