"Parents residing in north London seeks an extraordinary and experienced instructor to assist their most junior child on his early path to growing into an British gentleman."
Upon seeing this post, you might naturally skip the wording "initial stages" as simple an expression.
Yet, it could be the most important part of this distinctive position posting, as it seeks to recruit a tutor for a one-year-old.
Many of submissions have already been received since the anonymous family advertised their call for the highly paid tutor, who must be "an exceptional individual".
In recent few weeks, the advert has attracted attention throughout the media, with many questioning why?
Forward-Thinking Method
The CEO, head and founder of an education consultancy, which is assisting the family in their search, stated that despite initial doubt, he considered the idea "forward-looking", and "innovative".
When he consulted the family, he said they recognized the atypical aspect of their demand, and how early in age their son is.
But, they explained that they "preferred not to postpone any longer" to engage a tutor, as they had held off until their firstborn was five, and by that point "cultural influence had by then become established".
But what does the family refer to by "cultural leaning"?
It's "comprehensive", the expert responded. "The way you eat, how you speak".
He explained the elder child had picked up "really subtle, non-verbal cues" from the family, and had adopted their cultural habits. The family explained to Adam they wished to avoid history to repeat itself with their younger child.
The intention: To engage a British tutor, who should speak with Received Pronunciation, to shape the baby from the very start.
Osmotic Learning
"Much of the learning at the beginning here is kind of absorbed naturally," explained the expert.
It's through this osmosis that the family are aiming the child will acquire the UK customs they want to cultivate.
The consultant said the tutor needed to be an individual who went to "prestigious academies – the same kinds of schools as the family hope to send their son to".
"The tutor must be the right kind of person, they'll be doing things they may not realize they're doing, simply by nature," he commented.
Expense Not a Factor
The family informed him the selected educator should ideally also have knowledge of or enthusiasm in equestrian activities, skiing, the arts and music so as to shape the child in a wide range of hobbies.
Furthermore though, he said the family wanted the tutor to sign up the child on a variety of courses so the child would be "horseback riding and picking up an musical instrument by the time they are around three years old".
In the family's minds, assisting their son develop into a "British gentleman" will result in success and create opportunities.
"Considering the pros and cons of that, because it's definitely a social class indicator," he comments.
But, in spite of all this tutelage in "UK identity", would the child adopt what is termed cultural leaning from the globally influenced family he resides with regardless?
"Yes", answered the CEO. "They realize this may not work, but they've merely embraced the attitude of, 'why not attempt it and we'll proceed as quickly as we can', because the expense of it is not a concern," he said.
Impractical
There are some in the private teaching field who express similar concerns.
Another CEO, head and founder of a tutoring service, who supplies individual instructors, stated that "the journey of becoming bicultural, or indeed, discovering oneself, is something that must be grown into, not designed."
Peter noted that he had relocated from China to the Britain at the time of childhood, and had been educated experiencing and embodying two backgrounds. He continued to learn at Cambridge University.
"The idea that an individual can act as a embodiment of English culture, someone who can in some way transplant the qualities of a UK sophisticate onto a infant child, seems to me idealistic and unfeasible," he stated.
"From my perspective, employing a typically UK tutor from early childhood will does not instantly create the goal they hope for.
"I never had such a figure, and yet I have been lucky enough to live several of the situations they aspire for their son."
He added: "The reality is, cultural identity can not be dictated from the outside influences; it must be selected, and it must originate internally."
Buying Britishness
Of course, Britishness is something the CEO thinks can be taught – and commercialized.
"I believe the fact that the global community regards us in this light is something that we should be cherishing|valuing|appreciating
